Amazing Result on an Attempted Murder Case!

Recently, in the Antelope Valley Courthouse, I obtained a great result for my client charged with attempted murder in violation of Penal Code section 664/187(a).

My client is 18 years old and was being accused of attempting to run over a young female with her vehicle after an altercation at a party. The District Attorney’s Office filed Attempted Murder (Penal Code § 664/187) and felony Hit and Run (Vehicle Code § 20001) charges against my client and she was facing a potential sentence of 15 years to life.

When my client hired our office, we quickly had a private investigator assigned to the case to contact and interview potential witnesses. We also submitted an extensive equities package to the assigned Deputy District Attorney detailing our client’s work history, educational history, and letters of recommendation.

In light of this investigation and advocacy, I was able to negotiate with the Deputy District Attorney to a plea to Penal Code section 245(a)(1). Instead of a life sentence, she was released after 126 days in custody.

Before hiring our office, my client feared the worst - a life sentence given that she was 18 years old. This was an enormous sentence exposure, but with this result, she is free of custody today!
